Barca a vela : imbarcazione a chiglia da regata
VALENTINA
Cantieri Sangermani
- 10.77m
35' 4"ft
This beautiful 6-metre Rating yacht was désignée! by Gary Mull in 1976 and launched by Cantieri Sangermani in 1977. Over 10 métrés long and with a beam of 1,87 métrés, her smoothly-developed hull Unes are front the hand ofa naval architect who is a specialist in the IOR field. An élégant hull skinned with a single layer of longitudinal planking, the wood exposed in its natural state, she is a real "showpiece" ofa racing boat.
Valentina was moved to Lake Geneva, where the 6-metre following is very strong. There, tacking in a very strong wind during a race, she hit a wave with her bows and plunged straight down to the bottom of the lake. She lay there 240 métrés deep for two years. The insurance having lapsed, the yacht was recovered and auctioned; but the new owner very quickly offered her to the yard because he was not in a position to recommission her. So Valentina retumed to Lavagna and there, in the course of rebuilding the boat, Cesare Sangermani jr. decided to keep her for himself So she became "his" boat and in 1986, with her restoration just completed, she tookpart in the European 6-metre Championship, held in the waters of Portofino, exorcising the bad luck which had followed her till then.
