Passenger ships are subject to special requirements. They must be equipped with special systems and facilities to ensure that the guests feel perfectly well on board.

Passenger ships are different depending on where they are operated: inland, coastal or maritime waters. MEYER WERFT takes pride in their experience gained in all three sectors.

To date MEYER WERFT has delivered plenty of passenger ships to operate between the isles of Indonesia. The ships are designed to carry more than 2,000 passengers who are accommodated in five different categories. Over the years, a close and permanent cooperation has developed between the shipyard and Indonesia.

On the basis of a cooperation agreement regarding technical assistance, shipbuilders from PT.PAL shipyard in Surabaya came to Papenburg. In cooperation with MEYER WERFT engineers, a ship for 500 passengers was designed. The first ship of this type entered into service in 1995, another two were built at PT.PAL. MEYER WERFT rendered technical assistance and delivered "material packages" such as technical systems and components for these newbuildings.
